Raft Race at Blackrock.

Each year the Blackrock Tidy Towns Committee organise the holding of a raft race on the seashore at Blackrock.  The event is well supported with many groups entering their own raft designs in an attempt to win the prizes and not drown in the process.

The Raft Race will be run again on Sunday 22nd June 2008.

To enter the Raft Race, telephone Mr Brendan Roche on 042-9321098.  The cost of entry is 150 euro per raft.  The trophy and prizes are being sponsored by Brendan Watters Insurances.

This is the 13th annual raft race and previous winners have been the Bayview Tavern, the Cross Border Orchestra, Blackrock School and Seniors Money.

So far this year, entries have been received from the likes of Ovelle, Felda and other local groups.  On the day, the race kicks off at 2.45 pm (time of full tide) and there will be lots of entertainment such as the Dundalk Brass Band, a busking competition, a sandcastle competition, a kids fancy dress competition and bouncing castles.

This a great team building exercise for those who take part and it is especially attractive to organisations who wish to offer such an opportunity to their employees or members.
